What awaits Russia if Putin is overthrown — Jason Jay Smart
If Russian President Vladimir Putin is removed from power, a fight for his place will become inevitable. In order to prove their legitimacy, the next candidates will have to take decisive steps.
Possible scenarios after the removal of Vladimir Putin were outlined in an interview with Novyny.LIVE by Jason Jay Smart, a political technologist.
What will happen after the overthrow of Putin
According to Smart, the revolution in Russia is inevitable. Most likely, this will be done for the interests of the oligarchs, not the people, but a change of power must nevertheless take place.
"The most dangerous moment of any revolution is the counter-revolutionary phase, when other forces will ask: Why shouldn't we be the leaders, if you could? This often leads to coups and internal conflicts," explained Smart.
According to the expert, the new leader will focus on maintaining power by keeping soldiers in Moscow. For this he will have to withdraw the military from Ukraine.
"A war in Ukraine is, firstly, unpopular, secondly, expensive, and thirdly, it deprives you of resources, that is, soldiers, scouts, etc. It is much better to have them in Moscow to protect the capital and secure power than to have them far away in Ukraine," he noted.
International legitimacy and ending the war in Ukraine will be the key tasks of the new leadership.
"There are two main demands that I think will be put forward by the West, the EU and the United States. First, securing the nuclear arsenal. This is what will give them legitimacy. But there is also a second thing. Nobody in the international community, of course, neither the USA nor the EU will recognize him as the official leader if he does not agree to withdraw troops from Ukraine," the expert emphasized.
It will be recalled that Turkish President Erdogan announced that Putin wants a ceasefire in the war against Ukraine and wants to continue the exchange of prisoners.
The Turkish leader also offered Putin to join the work of the grain corridor. The Russian dictator must consider the proposal.
