Why BRICS will never become an anti-American coalition

The BRICS countries have shown that relations with the US and Europe are more important to them than relations with each other. After all, it is trade with the West that makes up the lion's share of the countries' economies.

BRICS will not be anti-American

It cannot be said that the BRICS is not a powerful association. After all, about 30% of global GDP is involved in it in one way or another. At the same time, however, the BRICS countries have clearly shown that they are not willing to abandon their relations with the United States and Europe. 

"India's trade with Brazil, for example, or with Russia is nominal. However, trade between India and the US is about 15% of their total trade. They are really interested in maintaining this relationship. Look at other countries, Russia and China, yes, they trade with each other, but it's about 2% of Chinese imports. In comparison, China exports and imports from the US and Europe, plus our allies in Asia, about 60% of all imports and exports come from these countries," said Jason J. Smart. 

That is why the idea of the BRICS as an association against "American imperialism" is interesting for the member countries only on paper. 

"This is something that sounds good on paper, like we're going to work together. But are you ready to bet your national economy on it? Do you really want to cooperate with someone like Russia, which is the most sanctioned country in the history of the world?" the political analyst explained.

Earlier the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres accepted Putin's invitation to the BRICS summit in Kazan and met with the Russian dictator.

It also became known which countries will become BRICS members: Argentina, Egypt, Iran, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
